Do you have NEQ6 Syncscan Pro...?

Hola,

Right, I posted a question earlier about the difference between NEQ6 Sync Trek and NEQ6 Syncscan. I've learnt that in order to control my telescope/mount from my computer I need to get the Synscan handset as well - which adds like £100 to the Syntrek price. I was thinking I could get a Synctrek and just use the laptop to control it, but turns out it's not that simple.

OK, what do you think of your NEQ6 Synscan mount? Is it worth it? How do you control it through your computer?

P.S. I'm after a proper investment for years to come, and as far as I know (correct me if I'm wrong please) the NEQ6 is the one, considering your current skills and budget

with a syn trek you need a EQMOD to control via your laptop from ascom it will save you about £80

Have had a NEQ6 for about two years now, love it, nice and quite on slewing and sturdy. I control it via the laptop using Stellarium thru the handset, have not used Eqmod for over a year but have it installed. Photos of my setups in the link on my signature .

http://ascom-standards.org/ you need this to run through the EQmod so you can control your scope through http://www.ap-i.net/skychart/start CDC it look daunting but time spent going over the software you can be up and running in 15 min
