i've had a look for these for when i go to a dark site , as i'm planning a pier in my garden, why so expensive whats special about them ?

wont these do the same job?

For you, yes. For the supplier, no. It is the law that any off-the-shelf electronic or mechanical item re-sold to amateur astronomers *must* be marked up by at least 1,000% vs. normal retail price for non-astro usage.

Haha, yes indeed that is the case. Mine came free* with my Nexstar 11GPS back in 2003 and while I do see a modest amount of improvement I certainly would have not paid the market price for them.

*(I am pretty sure the £2,999 covered them as well).

well i've just bought a set you even get 4 incase you lose one lol.. the celestron ones are £35 shocking ..

Let us know how you get on. If they turn out not to be a perfect cure for vibration, you can always stick 'em under your washing machine.

Hi ive used these for years combined with marine ply bases they are just the job!
