9x50 finder or 70mm travel scope guider?

Hi, im looking at guiding and was going to get a Skywatcher 9x50 finder to use as a guidescope but after reading that most people now go for 70mm instead off 50mm and for the same price i can get a Celestron 70mm travel scope woulds this work?

Weight should be ok, 150 xlt, C-GT5, canon 40d.

I turned a 70mm F/5 travel scope into a finder (requires suitable rings which add to the cost), and I intend to use it as a guide scope. Should work.
