I don't know what this is

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I took some photos of the sky last night, some in the region of Taurus. I saw something I can't identify while looking at Jupiter. It's nothing on the lens, I'm pretty certain it's not a metoer (shower), and I thought it was a satellite at first, but as I followed it's movement over the period of two minutes and it was a bit odd I lost my sureness. I haven't seen anything like it before. Could anyone here help identify it?

I first noticed it at 21:03:38 and last saw it around 21:05. I used 4 second exposures and overlayed the images (so some of the stars may look duplicated). I am at roughly 52.2 deg lat, -2.3 deg long, I think. The numbers indicate the order in which I took the photos, i.e. 1 was taken at 21:03, 3 was taken at 21:05, 5 was taken at 21:05
