Help! Adding a second dovetail for a right angled finder

Recommended Posts

Hi all, Im new here, and am in need of a little help please

I'd like to add a second dovetail mount to my Skywatcher 130p. I've got a red dot finder fitted on the existing mount but would like to add a right angled finder scope as well - probably one of the skywatcher 6x30s. Any advice please on what I need (bar etc to fit to rings).

Thank you in advance for your advice

Instead of adding a dovetail to your scope, you could add a second finder scope foot...

http://www.firstligh...nting-shoe.html

I would use an epoxy resin and pertinently secure the foot to the scope, then simply attach another finder to the foot

You could then fit this to the finder foot...

Hope that helps

Thanks for your responses - much appreciated.

Jason - sorry to be a bit dim but the dovetails I've found so far don't appear to have a single thread hole in the base (quite a few have 2 but are side by side).Do you have a link to something appropriate by any chance please.

Thanks again

Kevin

You will need a standard skywatcher dovetail the same length as you already have, like this http://www.rothervalleyoptics.co.uk/skywatcher-long-dovetail-bar-33-5cm_d316.html

You then remove the male thread that sticks out from the top of one of your tube rings. You then use the threaded hole in the top of each tube ring to bolt the second dovetail down. You will need 2 bolts with a standard camera thread I dont recall the thread size but Google will tell you.

Jason.
