What do people do when it rains?

You'd have to be extremely unlucky to get caught in a sudden down pour. I have a saying "Astronomers don't get wet" - mostly cos we only go out under clear skies. But if you're cloud dodging - rain usually starts as a few spots - that's your signal to get it under wraps asap. A black plastic bin liner is light and can be scrunched up into a coat pocket for emergencies.

Alternatively I allways have one of these handy and a bunjee cord with hooks: http://www.green-wit...s_and_Bags.html

It folds nicely into the small carry bag - has ventillation - fits over most scopes - is cheap - and can be deployed in seconds over your gear. Look at the pics and you'll see how appropriate it is in extreme conditions. Highly recommended (by me at least). :)
