Black and White CCTV camera to view stars

On Stargazing live when they are outside they are using a black and white camera which is able to see the stars just like us looking up in the sky.

What I would like is to have say a cctv camera outside which I could control from inside simply to view the stars, not zoomed in or for photography but mainly as a guide to seeing the bigger picture of the sky. Possibly look out for satellites and asteroids. Would also be helpful to move and point down at my telescope make sure it's doing what I expect!

Anyone got any idea where I should look for such a camera? Preferably motorised..

i know it needs to have a low lux but everything i search is mostly all colour or with infra red LEDs.

Thanks that certainly is a nice camera but it appears fixed so would only point at same place at all times. I'm looking for something that I can move about and adjust and view different parts of the sky. However, possibly there would be some way to attach it to something controlled by motors.

I was thinking there must be some cctv cameras out there used for security measures like you see in say car parks I could simply buy but is back and white and can view stars

The camera being used appears to be tshed's HD Lunax Starlight Camera. Its used by the BBC for Stargazing Live and wildlife documentaries. I don't think its a consumer item you can go our and buy but should give some idea of the tech they used in the program.

yep, I think its pretty much specialised kit there, will see in starlight only.

Starlight Express are coming out with an all sky camera though soon I hear, it will have a fish eye lens and permit whole sky views. I dont know how sensitive they are though.
