first time this year

After a dismal year, I've been able to use my scope for the first time in months, although I had to miss Star Gazing Live to do it!

Had a lovely view of Jupiter, with Io in transit, even though there's a street lamp right in front of my city residence. 13mm plossl on a Tal 2x Barlow gace the best view.

Unfortunately, I discovered that my focusser is slipping quite badly, so that's something I'll have to fix.

Good to hear someone is getting some viewing, been cloudy/raining to-night. But I did manage a couple of hours last night on Jupiter but the viewing gradually got worse until a light mist was over everything.

Took the focusser apart - couldn't find anything wrong with it.

Put it back together - now solid as a rock, no slop or slippage at all. Odd.
