Logitude-Latitude

I'am trying to understand Longitude Latitude, when setting my co-ords I sit at -2 w, when I input this do I input this as 2 degree w omitting the - or is the - sign inportant?

Is it because I input w, the program automatically calculates that I'am west of the the meridian(if thats the term) thus no need to tell it that I sit -2 of the meridian

Its exactly how you said it. You can select E or W on the Synscan so if your longitude is -# then just omit the '-' and put W.
