Binocular focus problem and a question

Hey guys,

I recently recieved some 10x50 bins to partner my scope. However after having a fiddle and looking at jupiter the other night and tonight, i'm having difficulty getting them to focus. As I turn the focusing wheel it gradually becomes more focused, then goes 'the other way' and becomes out of focus again, no matter how slowly I try there isn't a decent point of focus. I have calibrated the diopter but that seems difficult to get into focus too?

I was wondering if there was a good/fail-safe technique for calibrating and focusing bins?

1. Cap right objective and use centre focus to get the best focus you can on left tube.

2. Cap left objective and use right eyepiece diopter adjustment to get the best focus you can on the right tube.

Most budget binoculars do not snap to point focus, but have what you described: a small range of "nearly, but not quite, there". If it bothers you, return it for a refund.

On the batphone, so expect typos...

I think the thought of 'this is supposed to be clearer' was the thing that was bugging me, I was annoyed because I couldn't find the spot. However knowing that it's not my fault makes it much better :p

Thanks!
