CS5.1 cannot open TIFF

Problems problems.......

I am very much a learner at PS, big thanks to Dougs vids on youtube, they are real good.

I have just moved PS from my lappy (4g RAM) to PC (1g RAM).

Opening CR2 files (about 10mb) is no problem,

I tried to open a TIFF from DSS last night (99MB)

I am getting an error message saying unable to perform task, not enough memory.

I have tried shutting down background programs but no luck.

I know PS is a big program but the system requirements say 1GB is ok.

Any ideas?

1GB is really small. It may be the requirement for the program itself, but the requirement jumps with large images ofcourse. I'd say cram some more in there, ram is really cheap nowadays. I'm not really comfortable with images from DSS even though I have 6gb RAM on my old desktop.

How much free space do you have on the hard drive. PS uses a chunk of free disc space as virtual memory. If your drive is almost full, that may exacerbate the problem.

Thanks guys, I have 4gb on the way to me and ill free up some disk space then have another go
