Yes you can, if by images you mean planetary / lunar.

hi stu yes thats what i had in mind can you use a webcam or something more sophisticated

moon is easy and some planets jupiter and saturn [next year for saturn] can be pretty good dso's are no go's on a push to , as they need long exposure, so you need to track the object which is very hard to do without some form of guidance system ie goto etc the xbox modded web cam is good for moon and a dslr would be ok for quick planet phot's [the spc9000 webcam is used but second hand prices are in the £40-70 price range for what was a £5 webcam

Have a look on youtube at the the Astronomy Shed video's (http://www.youtube.com/user/astronomyshed). Although he has a tracking mount, the basics of planetary imaging are the same and he explains how to use basic webcams (the Microsoft HD cameras seem to be popular atm) and process the video using Registax.
