Alternative way to process HDR Wavelets?

I like what HDR Wavelets do, however I do not like how they look.

Id like to have the extra details but would like to still have the ambient glow in which they are extracted from which always appears flat after.

How would I do that?

I don't like them. They just shout 'Pixinsight' to me, but hey-ho. They seem to make nebulae and galaxies look the same. Anyway don't listen to me! You could perhaps take them as a layer into Ps and erase, using colour select, the darkened regions you don't like? I filt between Ps and PI regularly though most of what I do in PI is to the linear image.
