Movement of mirror clips on primary Question ??

Recommended Posts

I have a 10" Orion scope. I took the mirror out to clean it. I decided to check the distance between the clips and mirror. I used a business card that fit under the clips. But putting my fingers on both sides of the clips I could wiggle each one. Pushing on the very back of the clips, tilts the front up. So it's almost possible to get two cards in the very front. All four clips are set the same. Is this normal? Pat

As long as they are not contacting the mirror surface, the gap is not critical Pat. Mine are 2-3mm off the mirror surface. They are really only to prevent the mirror tipping forward in the unlikely event the mirror became dislodged from the cell, not to actually hold the mirror in place.
