Some help with imaging planets using a MacBook Pro

Hi,

Does anyone here use a MacBook Pro for imaging planets with a webcam/ccd camera? I really want to get into imaging Jupiter as I now have a Celestron Nexstar 4se and have started looking at ccd cameras but not really sure if I'm going to be able to get software to use it with my Macbook Pro. Can anyone help?

Unfortunately I no longer have a windows laptop.

I think you are going to find software options limited on a Mac. I do have a bookmark (although its on my home laptop) which lists all the current Mac compatible software options. If Im not too late home tonight I'll dig it out for you.

It might be worth investigating Parallels as well.

Thanks for replying. Astro IIDC is software that FLO recommended but unfortunately it's being discontinued. I'll have a proper look at your links when I get in from work.

For planetary stacking the main mac app I've used is Lynkeos. I've also tried Keiths Image Stacker but found that less intuitive.

I have a Macbook Pro and found the same problems: most software seems to be written for windows. I use windows XP running on a virtual windows installation on the Mac using VMware Fusion. It cost about £38 and solved a lot of problems.
