Been thinking, no CCD : Globular clusters are mini galaxies with Blackholes

Watching a video about globular clusters and how old they are, relics of the universe, but in our and other galaxies.

Recent descoveries show that new stars are forming in them now, unheard off.

What is the bet that globular clusters turn out to be satellite galaxies with mini black holes ?

One could say they were older galaxies captured by the major galaxy which would explain a lot.

Thought for the day ?

Last I recall on this was that for whatever reason all spiral galaxies appeared to have a supermassive black hole at the centre while globulars had no black hole.

The implication being that a spiral galaxy somehow obtained it's spiral structure from the presence of a black hole.

When are you getting the ccd back ?

From memory "true" globular clusters have all their stars of the same age. There are in fact some young clusters that are thought likely to become globulars in billions of years.

But some objects traditionally called globular clusters, like Omega Centauri, have been found to have stars of different ages, and central black holes, and as such those ones are now recognised as galaxies.
