LP filtering for DSLR lenses

Having had predictable problems with dew on Friday night whilst taking wide field shots with my 450D, and some unexpected problems with LP near the horizon, I'm thinking that a lens hood and filter would make sense. But is there a best way to do this? 52mm lens hood threaded for a filter, 52mm to 48mm step-down and 2" LP or UHC filter? Are there other options? Are there even any hoods suitable for the 18-55mm kit lens that can take a filter? All the ones I've found using google thus far don't appear to do so.

The astronik clip filters wont work with efs lens, only ef, i didnt read and discovered that the hard way lol Id be interested in knowing about other options too
