SW coma corrector issue

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

I've recently purchased a SW coma corrector and an M48 adaptor for the 40d from flo to go on the SW150p and decided to give it a test shot, which was 30s. I ended up getting this halo show up.

How would I go about removing it? Is it just because I've imaged something bright and I have to just deal with it or is there some way of setting the CC up properly?

Please help, I've previously posted on another category without reply........anybody?

Many thanks

p.s. I've seen a few posts from people regarding these items, asking whether there are issues with inward travel so I thought I would share this info to potential buyers. My scope has the black diamond livery with the standard focuser. There is around 8-10mm of travel left over on the tube, and as you can see from the uncropped pic, it seems to do a good job of reducing the coma.

I'd say this is the unfortunate effect of adding a glass doublet into the optical train. I get halos with my SW CC - it suffers from spherical aberrations on brighter stars. The off-centre halo, though, looks like an internal reflection.
