Celestron NexStar SLT mount problem

Mine died after a couple of months, the quality of those motors seems to be quite bad.

I haven't replaced the motor assy yet and probably won't, I have removed the az motor and converted the mount into a manual one :) Some tape and an old broomstick stick and a few adjustments to the screws to get the right friction will be enough for me until I will get a new proper mount.

Not a bad idea! I've read a few complaints and all were concerned about the cost of shipping over seas. My one lucky star may be living semi-near to Celestron's factory and HQ... But still ridiculous we get sold a bum product and are expected to pay the price of shipping and of course waiting... If you get a chance to post a pic of your modified mount, that would be greatly appreciated! Thanks anyways for chiming in!

Sounds like this is a serious problem with the model. I found posts as far back as 07 pertaining to motor issues that resulted in full replacements. I kinda wish I knew that before buying.
