st80 and synguider on 200p imaging scope

Hi all,

Having eliminated mount issues through strip down and use of a second mount, I am still getting some out of round/erratic stars.

My current theory is the longer time it takes the synguider to notice drift at the shorter focal length of the st80, compared to the quicker time the camera sees drift at the longer focal length of the 200p. Does this seem reasonable?

If this is so, my plan is this.... Reduce the exposure time of the synguider to make it respond faster whilst increasing the aggressiveness of it's response, at the same time reducing the guide speed of the mount to 0.25x to prevent overcorrection.

How plausible does this sound? Or have I lost the plot??

Any suggestions welcomed with open ears...

Thanks

Alan
