Is there any reason why the above holder is shorter on the 10" dob than it is on the 8" dob?

There is a reason and probably a very good one. I don't happen to know it though :-)

Seriously, Skywatcher would have used the same part for both if they could have, so I'm sure there is a good reason. Why does it bug you?

No bug, just curious. Also hoping the 250 has a little more " in focus" than the 200, had constant rain for ages so I can't try it out. I need a little more in focus travel with my bv's in the 200, if the 250 has a bit extra and I can get focus without using a Barlow I would be over the moon, so to speak.
