Sharpening the transit

I managed to snap a few pics of the transit.....

and I want to make Venus stand out more. How would I do that using the software GIMP2 and windows paint?

I ask because when I printed off the images onto paper I found Venus harder to see.

Thanks for the offer Kev but I'd rather try to do this myself. It's not that I doubt your ability (definitely not) but I'd like to learn to enhance my astro pics myself.

no problem Firstly stay away from Windows Paint, that is a dire programme for any processing. In Gimp try playing with levels and contrast and if Gimp supports it, curves adjustments rather than a straight contrast tweak. You may also have some success by layering copies of the image and making adjustments to the copies and then blending them back into the main layer
