ST80 not focusing

Hi Everyone,

My ST80 will not focus, I,ve tried the body of my 2x barlow

without the lens and a 8mm meade ep just will not come into

focus.

Tried the same with my QHY5 again will not come into focus

do I need more back focus or am I missing something.

Any help much appreciated. BigBlueOne

With the QHY5, if you are not using a diagonal then you require a good 80mm of extension tubing to attain focus.

With regard to the EP, are you using a diagonal?

Hi Stephen,

I,m not using a diagonal, but with the body of the barlow and

the eyepiece extended as far out as possible I can just get focus.

I dont plan on doing that, I was just running thru things in the

hope there was nothing wrong with the lens.

Just when you think you dont need to buy anything for short

period it creeps up on you an 80mm ext it is.

Astroboot : dirt cheap You "might" get away with the 60mm T2 extension on there.

I personally used an 80mm and I recall that the focuser was no where near fully racked out.

I can acheive focus with my ST80 and the supplied barlow (with the lens removed) and a QHY5.

As you can see from the photo, the focuser rack is quite a way out...

Wayne I wish I could do the same, but it just wont have it.

As Stephen says an 80mm ext it is.
