Sidereal or Solar tracking for planetery imaging?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering which tracking option, on alt/az synscan, would give more accurate tracking for high magnification planetary imaging.

Are there any variations depending on the planet (eg are inner ones tracked more accurately with one and outer with another perhaps?)

Thanks

The tracking rates for planets change all the time. It shouldn't matter though, in terms of the image quality you will get. The exposures will be short enough not to make any difference. All you'll see is a slow drift over an hour or so.

I'd stick with sidereal if I were you.
