Mounting a finderscope?

I bought a 6x30 finderscope and was wondering how you actually fit it on the telescope.

It has the same base as this finderscope:

but I cant see any way to slide it on my scope

looks like a quick release base foot.

the QR foot fits into a dovetail saddle, and this will be a second item you will require for it to fit.

the new finders require an adapter, could not find one on FLO but link below shows what you need.

Ah right, actually FLO do have one as I bought the 6x30 from them and they recommended the same thing (just 99p less).

How would you attach the mounting shoe to the telescope then?

I had the same scope and put an aftermarket finderscope on -

It is attached to the tube rings so wil need aligning more often but it's very easy to do.

some use the already installed two hole screw set ( found on skywatchers)

others use sticky back foam pads to secure the bracket saddle to the scope tube

Jonny, thats actually quite clever and I might try something like that myself

I might get some sticky pads too and see how that works.
