celestron tripod

Hi all,

I've got a Celestron 130 eq and I keep reading on here and elsewhere that the tripod breaks very easily. Mine is fine at the moment but if it ever does go has anyone ever had to get a replacement, was it easy enough to get and was it expensive?

You can get a particular part seperatly usually. You'll not need a whole mount unless something dratic happens. A lot of spares I've seen on e bay.

Replacements are available but are expensive for what they are.

Should it ever break, it would make sense to upgrade it to a better tripod, and consider a better mount at the same time.

I had the same scope a few years back and found the tripod was fine in use. Just be careful not to over tighten the leg screws as this can shatter the plastic housing they are in.
