thanks for this - i enjoyed it. i'll admit to "understanding" only about half of it (and i use the term "understand") pretty loosely. but it was cool to hear about the ways in which amateurs can contribute, especially the part about certain types being actually impossible for professionals because of the time frames involved.

thanks john. the whole shock cone thing was beyond me, plus some of the terminology in the this bit (though i'd need to listen again to remember the specific words). a graph with something beginning with a...?
