Dropping a Skywatcher MAKSUTOV 127 SP OTA on my EQ3-2 as an alternative but not a replacement for my Explorer 150P ????

I don't see why not, as long as the Mak has a Vixen dovetail, which it should, and you don't try to put both of them on at the same time.

I have used my Skymax on my EQ3-2 and it is fine.

The 150P is not as stable as i would like would the MAK be any different as its a different size and weight, not sure which is heavier

Swings and roundabouts really. The 150P is heavier and longer but the Skymax is longer focal length so smaller movements have a larger effect. Personally I prefer the Newt, I am not a fan of the Skymax at all. The more I use it, the less I like it I have more or less given it my eldest son anyway as he seems to like it.
