Hi Malcolm,

I,ve read some of your previous posts on the subject so Thankyou

for your reply.

Malcolm when splicing the data lead to the FTDI cable, your only

using 3 soldering joints are the rest of the cables from each just cut back and blanked off so to speak before finishing of with your shrinkwrap.

Thankyou BibBlueOne.

That was my thoughts exactly Malcolm if Chris is giving the link

you,ve no worries.

Now my cables are ordered now for soldering Iron does it need whistles and bells or just one of those small kits on ebay plus

some solder with a flux core, and would this be me ready for

some splicing once I have it all assembled.

Thanks again BigBlueOne.

Tronisoft sell versions with shield connection, and without, but I'm sure in both cases the cable itself is shielded (so gives you some interferance protection) its just that on one the cable shield is connected to the end connector. As you're going to remove this connector anyway and only connect/splice Tx, Rx and Gnd to the mount either cable will do.

Try to keep the cable between the ftdi cable and the mount as short as posible whilst giving sufficient slack for full mount rotation.

Chris
