I think you will find that from the UK you should be able to view down to Caldwell 67. NGC 1097 in Fornax is just below -30 degrees DEC so you really need a good southern horizon - despite many attempts I have not seen it.

There are some great objects in the Caldwell catalogue and I still have 9 more to go. There are also some very difficult objects to view which at the moment my 10" scope has failed to detect.

thanks for that mark. not sure how many are doable with a 90mm refractor,we shall see.
