First telescope ordered, any tips?

That's fine, I was just trying to think of some alternatives ideas. I would say Skywatcher, Meade and Orion are well known manufacturers with decent quality control and of course will hold their value if you want to resell, if and when you decide to upgrade. One important recommendation I would like to make and that is to always buy from a dedicated astro retailer rather than say a trader on the internet (they can be the same) in case there are any problems or further guidance is needed and sometimes that additional help is worth more than a small amount saved in cash.

This is starting to really annoy me I just can't make a decision on a scope. Can anyone recommend a great 8 to 10 inch reflector for £500? Is an all manual telescope a pain?
