New scope help!!!

Hi all,

I was just looking for a bit of advice on purchasing a new or second hand scope. As you can see I have the meade ls 6 which is a good scope but was really wanting to go up in the world and get into astro photography. As the meade is altz its no good really for the imaging side. Im looking for a scope that is good value for money, preferably 8" up and is fairly easy to align with good optics. Im not really experienced in any way and can only view on limited occasions because of my job so I really want it to be gps too ! Hope you can help,

Hi Andy... start with the mount.. EQ..with tracking..as sturdy as you can afford... HEQ5Pro would be a starting point...then see what cash if any you have for a 'scope

For wide field imaging use an 80mm frac. ED's are better and you will need a guide scope and Autoguider for exposures over a couple of minutes depending on how accurately you polar align the mount.

Dobby thanks for that, I am definitely looking at the eq5 pro, Its just deciding what scope to put on it. Im going to ring first light tomorrow and see what they come up with.
