Colours rendered incorrectly in Firefox

I noticed some time ago that pictures which look fine in photoshop, have hideous colour distortions in firefox or windows picture viewer.

The picture below looks fine in Opera, but has a blue distortion along the limb in the above viewers.

I'm sure others have come across this. How can it be avoided?

Thanks for any help.
