Can anyone help me out with my Celestron Nexstar 6SE, I'm having problems setting it up as I think I'm a bit thick, but am good at Astronomy . I align it but it doesn't find what I'm looking for, I set the scope on Polaris to align, once thats done I put it onto Solar system and press to locate moon, when its finished slewing its about 180 degrees out.

I would think that Polaris would be a bad choice of star alignment.

At this time of year, try aligning on something like Capella in Auriga for the west or Arcturus in Bootes in the East, then slewing from there to the Moon?

Cheers

p.s. I've also moved the thread to Equipment help as you'll get more views there!
