Hi!

Is this mount a good one? Nexstar 4/5 SE Mount and Tripod?

And would it be good for Astro imaging?

As Alt.Az mounts go, this one is fine, I reviewed one for the Sunday Times and quite liked it but it is only really suitable for Lunar and planetary use because it tracks in discrete horizontal and vertical steps rather than in an arc to mimic the movement of objects across the sky. The movement of an Alt.Az mount results in what is known as field rotation - fine for visual use, not so good for imaging.

A quick read of this thread will explain more even though it applied to a Dobsonian in the original thread.

Oh one more question, so the eq goto mounts good all rounder? For solar system and deep sky.
