Light Shroud for 150p

Hi all,

Thought I'd share my light shroud I made from a piece of 200mm plastic I "found" at work.

basically get a length of plastic, cut to length, cut elongated holes in, Paint it black ( I used blackdoard paint) and then use single sided foam tape on the inside as shown in pics.

Its probably not the best finished job but with the ammount of Lp I get and the neighbours bathroom and bedroom lights going on and off this should help quite alot, I made two, one 16" long and the other 8" long, just need to wait forever now for the clouds to go bye bye and try them out. Oh the foam tape is available in lots of widths I only used this because we got an endless supply of it at work but something in the 50mm wide would have been neater.

I have also been told that if you pop along to a plumbers merchan and ask if they have any cracked or broken lengths of plastic they will sell this very cheap as it can not be sold for its intended purpose. Total cost of this project for me was £4.19 for the paint, but I would think you could do it for around £10-£15 if you had to buy the tube and foam as well.

Oh I forgot to add the OD of the OTA was 185mm and the tube is 200mm ID, with the foam tape it just pushes onto the OTA and sits very comfortably. I put it on and then left it for an hour to see if it sagged or moved but no it was still quite firm on the tube.
