Neighbourhood Astronomy

Nice clear day and i have the day off work. Set the PST up at the front of the house. Since then i have shown sunspots & prominences to the milkman, postman, window cleaner, a guy walking his dog and an older neighbour that i had never spoken to. All of who were truly amazed by what they saw.

Said neighbour mentioned that he'd given astronomy a try with his kids many years ago but had given up when they couldn't really see anything except the moon. So of course i've invited him round the next time we get a clear night to have a good look through our scopes.

5 minutes ago he knocked at the door. He's clearing out his loft and came upon his old telescope. He was going to throw it away but offered it to me instead - what a nice chap.

So i am now the proud owner of a bright red 20 year old 50mm Tasco refractor. Just need to get a GEM mount and CCD then my imaging setup is complete :)

Im sure i can find some use for it somewhere....In fact the little tripod looks like it would suffice for a super fast PST setup mount.
