Help with new eyepiece

Hi,

Got a new eyepiece in the post today 6mm sw long eye.

Tried it in my 150p 750mm max mag is x300 so within that with the the 2x Barlow.

Can't get anything focused let alone sharp mars, Jupiter and moon.

Without Barlow it is only a bit behind my 10mm with Barlow.

Any help appreciated.

The plan is, focus with a wide FOV that's high "mm" then once its centered change to a high power that's low "mm" your 6mm is about as big as you want to go, leave the barlow on the shelve.

The max that you will get in reality is 200x-220x.

Occasionally you may manage 250x but I doubt it will be often.

Throw in that above 200x the atmosphere comes in to effect and has a large influence.

I guess the barlow is the one that came with the scope, if so they are generally poor.

Every one says 2x dia, but I find 1.5x dia is closer to the truth, and if you read Warthogs guide I think he comes to the same answer. He just gets at it from a different direction.

I assume that by: 6mm sw long eye

You mean a Skywatcher, 6mm eyepiece with Long Eye relief.

No idea how good or bad these are.

Basically you have gone for too much magnification.

Thanks will run with it no Barlow will think about a 1.5 to get more mag.

Just wanted to get a bit more detail as mars is not a great view with 10mm and would like to see the bands on Jupiter.
