As I was a total beginner I didn't want to take the plunge buying anything too expensive then it just lies about gathering dust. I bought a jessops 800x80 reflector. Last night was amazing using a 20mm celestron and 3 x Barlow Jupiter with 3 moons on 1 side and one on the other was nice and clear as was Venus. Waited up for Saturn and using a 6mm lens could make out the rings! I also have 10x50 bins and using a members comment of turning a broom upside down u have a mono pod was ideal.... I could go on and on I'm hooked will def look at buying a better tel and some plossl eye pieces!
