tube rings removal

Recommended Posts

i'm just wondering if it's ok to remove the mounting plate from the mount instead of removing the tube from the rings? for storage reasons i need to remove the rings and mounting plate anyway so i thought it would be quicker and less time spent balancing scope. don't even know if its possible cause i don't want to try it until i know its ok. any advise and/or reasons would be welcome.

eh ?? its much easier to open the tube rings to remove the scope ... the rings open are like a cradle to sit the scope on , its quite a pain to try to move the scope in its rings with the dovetail attatched .

Seems to be a personal choice, for me, the other way around, you could remove from the rings then if you need to, put the rings back on for storage!!

Hi, i've actually fitted another dovetail bar on my rings to use as a handle. Then i've marked the main dovetail with tipex so it goes back in the same position every time...
