Visible magnitdes

Can anyone tell me if there's a way to work out the maximum visible magnitude of a Scope. Mine being the Skywatcher 130m, what would be considered the maximum?

Or is it just abit of trial and error using the scales on Stellarium.

If 130mm dia, FL 650mm then Skywatcher say:

Faintest Steller Magnitude 12.7

Mind you, you do have to search for it.

I have seen various sites/manufcturers will give different values for the faintest magnitude for identicaal scopes, but often all around the same area.

The general light pollution you have will be a bigger factor.

Thanks, at least I know my limit now when looking for objects in Stellarium now without pushing it.
