IC 410 : The Tadpoles in Ha

Catanonia

Recommended Posts

The last one from my recent flurry of images on the new SuperNewt @F2.8

This target was particulary difficult as there was a 3/4 full moon a few degrees from the Tadpoles for the whole 3 hours of imaging.

It has turned out quite well despite that so will go into the library awaiting some colour to go alongside it.

Here is 3 hours in 10min subs @F2.8 of the nebula.

Again getting loads of the surrounding dust lanes rather than just the actual nebula which is pleasing.

Details

Scope : TS SuperNewt 200mm 568mm FL @F2.8

Guiding : TS OAG + QHY5 + PHD + NEQ6Pro

Camera : QHY9 mono + 2inch Orange Bright Ha 8nm

Subs : 18 x 10 min unbinned

Software : MaximDL, PixInsight, CS5 and image cropped by 70% for framing.

Thanks for looking

Loads of signal Steve, especially nice to see all that surrounding faint stuff having some structure and detail to it.

There's something missing though. The image as a whole seems to lack range, and this nebula in particular has some very sharp features which have been lost to noise reduction or something. Try backing off a couple of steps or more in the processing. A great bit of advice I heard somewhere regarding processing goes like this:

"If the difference in the picture between each step is obvious, then you've gone too far"

Looking forward to more :icon_salut:
