Software Advice for newcomer

i would like some software advice for myself as a newcomer.

i have at this moment in time :

Deepsky stacker

registax

photostitch (canon )

digital photo professional (canon)

G.I.M.P

UFRaw

Photomatix (trial version HDR software)

virtualdub

i am unable to afford Photoshop CS, and am weary on purchasing photoshop elements, what other software that is free to use would i be best looking at.

I find gimp is my only choice to adjust my shots/movies with, but have to use youtube tutorials just for basic things like curves/levels etc etc.

what other software would you recomend please and thank you.
