Celestron NexImage

Hi,

Has any one used one of these? 'Celestron NexImage Solar System Imager'. Are they any good?

Yes, all my planetary imaging has been done with one of these. It is basically the same as the SPC 900, packaged with everything you need to just plug it in and start imaging. As I understand it, you can get the same package, by purchasing the bits individually, cheaper.

I'm not 100% sure that they are Phillips 900 just re boxed... I beleive that Celestron may have hacked the firmware in some way. I did do a comparison a while back between a Morgan computers SPC900 and the NexImage and I beleive there were subtle differences

NexImage has custom firmware, bit different than in SPC900NC.

I didn't realize that ... sorry for any confusion.

When you compare the neximager price of about £130 to packages like this, I wonder if the difference is worth the extra cost.

Of course, there is also the current almost non-availability of the SPC to consider

Is it possible to connect the camera to eyepieces or can it only be used attached to the OTA ?

I believe there are some eyepieces that can be connected to the camera (Hyperion? Radian?), but I have never done it so am not totally sure.
