Astrophotography set up ideas

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I own a cannon d1000 slr camera and a skywatcher explorer 130p telescope. Had them both for a year now and been unable to take photos through the telescope due to the length :). Not that it's stopped me enjoying the night sky.

I looking to upgrade my telescope so I can take long exposers through it. Prob will need a motorized stand for tracking.

Can anyone suggest a telescope n stand that would be good n cheap. Havnt got alot to spend :D

Cheers

Graham

The two do not really go together I'm afraid. I would suggest picking up a copy of Making Every Photon Count and having a good old read first.

It would have to be only a case of "get you going" though as there's no longevity in that setup.

To be honest, I'd save up for a while longer to get something better :)

Persoanlly- if your in this of the long haul with A/P I'd start thinking of a buget nearer the £1k mark - I'm sure you could do it for £500 but from my research a decent HEQ5 mount or an EQ6 is @ £700 on its own - let us know how you get on
