Canon 50mm 1.4 + 2" LP Filter = Great Success!

Recommended Posts

Just found that my Light Pollution filter fits inside the front of the Canon 50mm 1.4 lens without touching the front element and without the glass of the filter touching the case of the lens - with the aid of some very specialised lens adhesive (blu-tack) it just gives it a wee bit of extra grip - and the fact the lens is always pointing up when imaging the stars (in my garden) means it shouldn`t fall out - just need to remember its in there when I pack up tonight.. So Shooting my first widefields tonight on a mount... Lets hope they turn out OK!

What type of LP filter are you using? Will be interested to see the results. You might need to narrow the apperture down if it is a dielectric coated filter (as opposed to coloured absorptive glass). The dielectric coatings are only designed to work at specific angles of incoming light (i.e. 90 degrees to the filter).
