Ian123
Hello all, semi-first light was last night but due to high wind's and not great conditions it was cut short.Had a good look at Jupiter which was fantastic, seen 2 clear band's and 4 moons, 3 which was a V shape on one side, great view.My question regarding M42 is i saw the four stars making up the Trapezium and three stars dropping south from this. This pic is a good representation i what i saw in my 10mm EPMy question is, is M43 part of this pic and if so what part?BTW, it's not my pic. swamp thing
Looks like you need to zoom out a bit for M43.You may just be getting the edge of it bottom right in piccy. If I've got my bearings right.Regards Steve
Ian123
Cheers Steve, just got the stock EP's at the mo, 10mm + 25mm,more on the way soon i think, was a great view though. Is it easy to distinguish between the two (M42+M43) or does it take practice? swamp thing
M42 is the large bright arc of nebulosity M43 is a much smaller circular nebula just alongside. You shouldn't have any problems distinguishing them from one another.HTHRegards Steve
