Eq5 clutch slip.

Recommended Posts

I bought a brand spanking new skywatcher 200p eq5 a couple of weeks back and although i have only had about 8 hours decent viewing time i have noticed that the clutch on both the RA and DEC skip now and again. I have made sure i have balanced my scope and tightened the clutch levers properly but still the slippage. Did i make a mistake in believing the cheapest mount option was up to the job or am i missing something? Apart from this the scope is fantastic. I am now in the process of saving up for tracking motors for the mount, or do you lot think i should be saving for a heq5 instead?

sounds like your worm drve might need adjusting a touch or could simply be a case of moving the clutch lever a little so it tightens the clutch before it runs out of room to tighten fully. i had this on my lxd75 mount, only takes 20mins to sort out both.
