SharpCap settings for Mars and Saturn

Hi Everyone,

I'm going to have a crack at imaging Mars and/or Saturn early tomorrow morning and was wondering what would be the best SharpCap settings (e.g. Gain etc) to capture the images.

The particular settings you need depend much more on the camera you are using than on which software you are using it with.

I presume it's a webcam rather than the D40 in your signature...

Yes, I'm using a webcam for the imaging (a flashed Phillips 880).

In that case I'd suggest you follow some of the imaging tutorial videos over at astronomyshed.co.uk - they cover getting started with SharpCap and the SPC900, Lunar imaging and moving to planetary. If you fish about on the Imaging boards over there then you'll find that some people post the settings they used for the capture along with the image, which can be helpful.
