Beginning Webcam Astronomy

Recommended Posts

I have a Logitech C910--it is a VERY impressive little webcam! I want to use it to stack photos of the moon and planets--that's my dream, anyway.

I have a 4" SCT B&L in mint condition. I have five eyepieces and a barlow.

Where do I begin? Need I strip the webcam down to expose the bare CMOS?

Thank you,

Paul

first you want to remove unscrew original lens from the webcam possibly any red filters

and then tape the webcam to your telescope (where you would put eyepiece to).

then use some webcam software to take images or video

and just play around with cam settings.

download some astronomy software for imaging

Being a Pioneer is very exciting!

I have not yet found a breakdown of the C910--it has an unusual shape and construction. Very, very thin and neat--no screws or easy to find seams. Speakers on both sides. Something so fascinating about tearing apart the best webcam I could find. . .

I guess I should document my experience and forge the way ahead.
